- Thursday, Governor Bill Lee announced the launch of FeedTN.org in KNOXVILLE, Tenn to connect Tennesseans with food distributions, donations and volunteer opportunities.
- The federal government shutdown began on October 1, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution in September, but Democrats in the House and Senate rejected it repeatedly.
- A coalition of more than 300 nonprofit and faith-based leaders across all 95 counties is coordinating daily under the Governor's Faith Based and Community Initiative to identify needs and mobilize rapid response.
- Starting Nov. 1, SNAP recipients are expected to lose benefits as the U.S. Department of Agriculture says SNAP lacks sufficient funding for November, though prior-month balances on EBT cards remain usable.
