Time-lapse shows a 96-ton Pennsylvania house on the move
Crews moved the 211,000-pound home in about 30 minutes to clear space for a community park, according to the Dobbin House.
On Friday, crews relocated a 96-ton house in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, moving the structure at 95 Steinwehr Avenue to South Washington Street to make room for a new community park.
The project supports America250PA celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States and the Dobbin House, creating space for a new community park on the site.
Wolfe House & Building Movers transported the structure using computerized hydraulic jacks and power dollies, moving the 211,000-pound home at roughly two miles per hour during the process.
Crowds gathered along the complex to watch the rare relocation unfold in real time, with the community park expected to open in August 2026 with special gathering spaces.
The site previously hosted the Leister House, which served as General George Meade's headquarters during the Battle of Gettysburg before being relocated in the late 1800s.
