Swimmers, splash lovers and sunbathers can get excited for this weekend: several spray grounds, fountains and pools will be reopening for Memorial Day weekend.

Reopening two Lafayette public pools could be a lifesaver

From 2020 to 2022, 63 children under 14 years old drowned in Louisiana. Last year, drowning was the third leading cause of death among 1- to 14-year-olds in Louisiana, according to the state health department.  One way to reduce fatalities from drowning is to make swimming lessons easily accessible, specifically by hosting them at public pools. In Auerbach, Amberg and Sulzbach-Rosenberg the outdoor pools have already opened. Königstein is now following. From the Assumption of Christ (29 May), the natural swimming pool is open. Preparations are underway. Guests expect small innovations.
