ByteDance Ltd., the owner of TikTok, will be fined more than 500 million euros ($552 million) for illegally sending European user data to China, adding to the growing global backlash against the video-sharing app, Bloomberg reports.
According to the investigation, the Chinese business violated the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by sending information to China, which was accessed by engineers.
