Three-year jail term for WA pastoralist over theft of more than 150 cattle from outback stations

Summary by Ground News
A Gascoyne man has been sentenced to three years' jail and ordered to pay $100,000 in compensation for stealing more than 150 cattle from stations in Western Australia's north-west. Richard Arends, 46, faced the WA District Court last week for sentencing over the November 2020 thefts. He had already pleaded guilty to the offence, and a separate charge of receiving a bulldozer stolen from Rio Tinto. The court heard the cattle's ear tags were removed and replaced with that of Edmund Station so the stolen livestock could be sold on undetected.
