Three-quarter of Canadians want Carney to press ahead with his economic changes: poll
A Canada Pulse Insights poll found 73% back Carney’s plan, while just over a quarter say the changes are large enough to require an election.
A new Canada Pulse Insights poll of over 1,500 Canadians found 73 per cent want Prime Minister Mark Carney to press ahead with economic reforms without calling a new election.
Carney's proposed agenda includes fast-tracking infrastructure, relaxing environmental reviews, altering labour strike rules, and pursuing closer economic ties with Europe, per the survey conducted October 1-8.
Support for the proposed changes remains consistent nationwide, ranging from 83 per cent in British Columbia to 65 per cent in Alberta, reflecting broad consensus across regions.
The Liberals lead nationally with 46 per cent support compared to 34 per cent for the Conservatives, while 15 per cent of Conservative voters now indicate support for the Liberals.
Despite broader national support, 53 per cent of Conservative voters favor calling a federal election, while 47 per cent support continuing Carney's legislative agenda, underscoring division within the opposition.
