Three more people arrested over death of Manchester woman

Police have arrested three more suspects as they seek witnesses and footage in a case that has already led to one murder charge.

  • On Wednesday, Greater Manchester Police arrested three more individuals in connection with the death of Alisha Samuels, 26, who was found stabbed on Dorking Avenue in Newton Heath on October 15. Two 19-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of murder, and a 48-year-old woman was held on suspicion of assisting an offender.
  • The investigation began after officers were called to a disturbance on Dorking Avenue on October 15, where Samuels was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after, a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder but was later released on bail and is no longer treated as a suspect.
  • On Tuesday, October 20, detectives charged Lawrence Johnson, 26, of Dorking Avenue, with the murder of Samuels and the attempted murder of a man. Johnson was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester Magistrates' Court.
  • Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant said the team worked "tirelessly" over six days and thanked the public for "invaluable" information. Bryant urged anyone with details to come forward, stressing commitment to "securing justice" for Samuels' loved ones.
  • Away from the investigation, the community rallied around Alisha's family, with friend Carris Mallon organizing a fundraiser that raised more than £13,500 in just two days to support her loved ones.
