Thorns Reclaim Top Spot in NWSL with Shutout Win
M.A. Vignola and Mallie McKenzie scored as Portland extended its home shutout streak to a league-record 568 minutes.
On Wednesday, the Portland Thorns defeated Bay FC 2-0 at Providence Park, setting a new NWSL record for the longest home regular-season shutout streak.
Surpassing the previous record of 568 minutes in the 64th minute, the shutout streak reached 594 minutes, with Portland not allowing a home goal since October 4, 2025.
M.A. Vignola struck a powerful volley in the 30th minute to open scoring, and Mallie McKenzie added her first career NWSL goal in the 77th minute.
The Thorns moved to the top of the NWSL standings, jumping the San Diego Wave by one point following their draw on Wednesday.
Portland remains undefeated at home during the 2026 season and will travel to face the Kansas City Current this weekend for their final match before the summer break.
