On September 1, a primary school in Diksmuide, West Flanders, will open without any pupils. Unless, by surprise, someone decided to enroll their child after all. A school without enrollments that remains open: how is that actually possible? And where are the pupils who attended until last school year? Gone, apparently. “We feel abandoned,” say parents who only heard in May that the school will disappear completely in 2027.
