This city is the first in Alabama to exempt a needed medical device from sales tax

Starting in October, the cost of a hearing aid will pinch a little less for buyers in the city of Madison. On July 22, it became the first city in Alabama to exempt hearing aids and similar devices from local sales taxes, following recent legislative changes that enabled local governments to do so. The exemption goes into effect Oct. 1.
