Third UK heatwave increasingly likely as 30C temperatures forecast
Forecasters say temperatures could climb into the 30s again, but they expect less humidity than last week’s record heat.
On Saturday, July 4, the UK Health Security Agency will activate yellow heat health alerts across much of England, remaining in place through Wednesday, July 8, as a third heatwave approaches.
High pressure extending from the Azores is driving the warming trend, which follows last week's record-shattering heatwave that peaked at 37.7C in Norfolk.
Forecasters expect temperatures to approach high 20s across parts of England, potentially reaching 30C in the southeast, with conditions remaining settled through the weekend.
The UKHSA warned of a "greater risk to life for vulnerable people," while Allergy UK cautioned that stormy conditions could trigger severe "thunderstorm asthma" symptoms.
While temperatures may climb into the 30s, meteorologists predict this spell will likely be less oppressive than last week due to lower humidity levels.
