Saturday, January 3, marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Catholic priest and physician Ladislav Kubíček (1926–2004). In Třebenice, Litoměřice, where he served as a parish priest toward the end of his life, he became the victim of a brutal robbery and murder in 2004. Two young perpetrators kicked him, doused him with flammable liquid, and set him on fire alive. A solemn mass will be held in memory of the beloved priest.
