On July 6, 77 years ago, the Soviet Union celebrated one of the most atrocious actions aimed at destroying the Romanian identity in the current territory of the Republic of Moldova. With the approval of Joseph Stalin, the local leadership of the Moldovan Socialist Soviet Republic (RSSM) organized the largest mass deportation operation, after which more than 35,000 people were sent to Siberia.
Moldova has a moral and historical duty to keep alive the memory of the victims and to tell the truth about the Soviet occupation.
