The tragic 2025 murder of transmasculine artist Cormac Robinson – Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents

The violent death of a 2025 trans man, Cormac Robinson, has come to light from Carrollton, Georgia. On October 2025, police conducted a welfare check on the apartment 24-year-old Cormac shared with his partner, 21-year-old Richard Gardner. Gardner has recently stopped taking medication and was uncharacteristically out of touch with friends. Upon entering the apartment, police found the bodies of Cormac and Gardner in what was described as a murder-suicide. Gardner had murdered Cormac and then died by suicide. In addition to the tragic circumstances, Cormac’s family chose to erase his trans identity with the media, law enforcement, and final arrangements. So let’s create a memorial that grieves the tragic death Cormac experienced, but also celebrates his true identity in all its wonders. Cormac was born on September 4, 2001, in St. Pauls, North Carolina. He attended Spanaway Lake High School, graduating high school in 2018 from  Penn Foster Online. In 2024, Cormac was enrolled in the West Georgia Technical College. He was a prolific artist frequently posting his work on multiple platforms. Cormac was part of the furry community as PixyStix, Usamaro, and Kura. According to his online profile, he identified as voidpunk, queer, and polyamorous. His favorite animal was a bunny. Cormac liked anime and cosplay. Cormac’s content is also filled with references to being lonely, struggling with his mental health, and seeking healthy connections with other people. We’ll never know the details of what happened in the apartment when Cormac’s boyfriend murdered him and then died by suicide. The final arrangements erased a lot of Cormac’s identity. He didn’t deserve either injustice. Cormac had a rich, vivid life filled with color, wonder, and creativity. He was resilient, picking himself up several times to find a home. He built community with others who shared his passions for manga, furries, and more. The depth of his creativity left so many riches and gifts for his community. His impact on our world was too brief, but not so easily dismissed. Cormac Robinson is the 25th person whose death we’ve memorialized in 2026. He is the 2nd trans man and the 2nd person from Georgia. He is the third person whose death in a previous year has come to light. 25 people are on this list. 16 of them are BIPOC trans siblings. 13 were Black, two were Latina, and one was Pasifika. Eight were white, the identity of one is unknown as of now. We talk a lot about disproportionate impact – here is the data. In 2017, Ava Le’Ray Barrin and Tee Tee Dangerfield as well as Candace Towns. 20 reported deaths in a decade stands out among the violence. Georgia has passed multiple laws to control the bodies of young and adult trans people, creating a culture that puts trans neighbors at risk of all forms of violence. Rest in power, Cormac. You were not alone. Your friends have continued to advocate for you to be remembered for the life that reflected who you were. Your name will be said, properly, every year. Your art will continue to bring joy. Your legacy should not be resiliency, but joy and creativity. I am very sorry we did not protect you. May you memory be a revolution.
