The GOVERNMENT has today officially established a Scientific Council that should help it remediate tens of thousands of tons of illegally disposed waste in Gospić and, perhaps more importantly at this point, interpret what the findings so far actually mean for human health and the environment.
The government has established a scientific council for the remediation of hazardous waste in Gospić. The council will review the remediation plan being worked on by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, which the government is expected to publish on September 20th.
Prominent scientists and experts from the fields of chemical engineering and technology, civil engineering and waste management, hydrogeology, soil protection, agronomy, public health and health ecology will participate in the work of the Council.
At its session on Monday, the government decided to establish a Scientific Council for expert support to the government in the remediation of illegally dumped waste in Gospić, chaired by the rector of the University of Zagreb, Stjepan Lakušić.
