Gatineau police pull new logo over copyright uncertainty
The force said it was pulling its new logo and reverting to the previous one because while the City of Gatineau holds a licence to use an included stock image, it's unclear whether that graphic can be used in the logo.
The Gatineau police, who presented a brand new visual identity on Wednesday, finally turned back and removed their new logo.
The stylized bird that was used in the SPVG's new graphic identity came from a generic image bank.
Designed internally for approximately $8,000 with the participation of police and civilian personnel, the deployment of the new visual identity will gradually take place over five years, at the pace of the replacement of uniforms and vehicles. The old one, which dates from the municipal merger, and the new logo will therefore coexist to ensure a clear and understandable transition for the population.
