How to Help Keep Your Family Safe in the Water This Summer - Life Time Experts Share What Matters Most
The company says its 25:10 Rule and swim lessons can help families reduce drowning risk as pools and lakes reopen for summer.
Life Time is marking National Water Safety Month by promoting its foundational 25:10 rule, which requires adults to stay within 10 feet of children unable to swim a standard 25-meter pool length without assistance.
With drowning ranking as the leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 1 to 4 according to the CDC, Life Time draws on more than 30 years of aquatics expertise to help families enjoy summer safely.
"We want families to have fun all summer, and a fun summer is a safe summer," said Alicia Kockler, Life Time's Senior Vice President of Kids and Aquatics. Kockler recommends maintaining a 1:3 guardian-to-swimmer ratio.
Every month, Life Time teaches more than 30,000 people crucial swim safety skills through lessons and clinics. Children enrolled in summer camps receive swim lessons twice weekly to become more confident swimmers.
Operating more than 500 pools across North America, Life Time certifies more lifeguards than any other business nationwide through StarGuard Elite, ensuring rigorous safety standards for swimmers of every age.
