Turkey revived a 30-year plan to sell the operating rights of the 15 July Martyrs and Sultan Mohammed Al-Fatih Bridges in Istanbul, along with highways, with the aim of completing privatization by the end of 2031.
The authorities of the Republic of Turkey are considering the possible transfer of two Istanbul bridges through Bosphorus and ten motorways to private companies for a period of 30 years.
A decision has been made to privatize many highways, including the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge across the Bosphorus in Istanbul. The decision, signed by AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was published in the Official Gazette.
With a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, 2 Bosphorus bridges, 8 highways, and 2 ring roads have been included in the privatization program. The transfer process, covering a 30-year operating period, is targeted to be completed by 2031.
