In the investigation into the sinking of the passenger ship "Filo Jet" off the coast of Girne in the TRNC on August 30, the detention period of the 9 suspects has been extended by another 7 days. The suspects are charged with "causing death due to negligence and carelessness."

Speaking in court regarding the Girne ship disaster, the Investigating Police stated that some of the doors in the watertight compartments on the ship were open. It was noted that if the doors had been kept closed, the ship would have taken on less water, and the chances of rescuing the passengers would have been higher.
