Australia, Thailand Strengthen Partnership With New Push for Broader Bilateral Cooperation
Australia and Thailand have agreed to deepen cooperation in law enforcement, defence and trade following talks between Prime Ministers Anthony Albanese and Anutin Charnvirakul in Canberra. The leaders pledged stronger operational coordination to combat transnational crime and disrupt increasingly sophisticated criminal networks. They also discussed expanding economic, trade and innovation ties amid changing geopolitical and economic conditions.
The Australian and Thai leaders held a press conference after their full bilateral meeting, expressing satisfaction with the first prime ministerial visit in 14 years. They announced an upgrade to their strategic partnership in four areas, supporting Thailand's OECD membership and collaborating on combating transnational call center scams.
Australian Prime Minister Albanese and Thai Prime Minister Anutin met in Canberra and agreed to increase cooperation in trade, clean energy and the digital economy, as well as to combat human trafficking and cyber fraud.
