The parade was the highlight of the "Prague Pride Festival", which has been held throughout the week.
Tens of thousands of people marched from Wenceslas Square to Letenská pláň on Saturday, where the Prague Pride festival traditionally culminates with a cultural program and concerts. The rainbow parade in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) rights was accompanied by a variety of costumes and masks. The event has so far been free of serious incidents.
A procession of tens of thousands of people celebrated the Prague Pride march through Prague. The event was not interfered with by the police, there were only a few protesters. "Compared to the Berlin march, this one seems more cheerful and civil," said an American couple from Pennsylvania, whom we met in Letná with a sign "37 years together."
The festival in support of LGBT rights kicked off on Wenceslas Square and headed to Letná Plain. The program will continue on Letná, where participants can watch concerts on six stages.
