PNV MEP Ohiane Agirregoitia stressed that the fisheries protocol with Cape Verde approved by the European Parliament, which will benefit eight Basque tuna vessels, follows the EU's "strict" criteria "on fisheries management, resource conservation and environmental sustainability", and "strictly respects human rights and contributes to local socio-economic development".
