With the repeal of the harshest measures in the ‘Mais Habitação’ package, many operators and investors in the short-term rental (AL) sector in Portugal breathed a sigh of relief. The suspension of the issuing of new licences, the forced expiry of registrations after five years, non-transferability in the event of sale and the creation of additional tax contributions were eliminated by Decree-Law 76/2024, approved in October 2024.
