In the end, it came down to experience. The Stanton Community Fire Association Board voted 3-1 on Thursday to name Dawayne “Dewey” Peterman the new fire chief. Peterman has served 30 years with the fire department, the last 16 years as assistant chief. The vote came after a panel of service professionals interviewed three candidates last week: Peterman, Stanton Fire Health & Safety Officer Tim Scott and Stanton Police Chief Matt Pumford.
