Poland, in response to violations of its airspace by Russian drones, has imposed air traffic restrictions in the east of the country, including a ban on certain types of civilian flights.
Poland will impose temporary restrictions on flights over the eastern part of the country as from 10 September, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of air defence aircraft and assisting the military in responding more quickly to threats.
From September 10 to December 9, 2026, the eastern part of Poland will be covered by the restricted airspace zone. The decision was made for the safety of air defense operations. It is possible to shoot down Russian drones and missiles that violate the airspace.
This restriction applies to airspace from ground level to flight level 95, or approximately three kilometers. Commercial passenger aircraft flying at higher altitudes will not be affected by this measure.
This is reported in the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces. The corresponding restriction is introduced at the request of the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces and will be effective from 00:00 UTC on September 10 to 23:59 UTC on December 9, 2026.
