On June 26, 2025, the police officers of the 1st Urban Section of Timișoara were notified that a man had entered Bega to swim, in the Splaiul Peneș Curcanul area, and at some point he did not surface. Searches are being carried out on site. The 37-year-old man, residing in the locality of Jebel, was pulled from the water dead. The police have filed a criminal case for manslaughter.
Timisoara firefighters were called to rescue a person who had fallen into the water on Thursday evening, in the area of Splaiul Peneș Curcanul in Timisoara. The 37-year-old man, residing in Jebel, was found by the diving crew and handed over to medical crews, who performed resuscitation maneuvers. Unfortunately, he did not respond to resuscitation maneuvers and was declared deceased.
The Timioara pumpers are looking for a man who would have come in to pick up Bega and didn't come out on the surface.
