Trieste's historic tram starts again, greeted by gangs and crowds

After more than eight years, full of complications, problems and delays, the famous white-and-blue tram is once again running between Opčine and Trieste.

They waited for him in Piazza Dalmazia, down in the city, when it was still dark, and when they saw the car coming for the first race, with accordion and trumpet they sang the traditional song “El tram de Opcina”. (BEND)

This weekend, after almost ten years, the tram connecting the center of Trieste with Opčine resumed operations. According to the Primorski dnevnik, the first rides on this historic line were made by Slovenian train driver David Žerjal.

On Saturday morning, after a break of almost nine years, the historic blue tram brought passengers from Opčin to Trieste again, and they were greeted with applause at the final stop on Trg Dalmacija in Trieste.
