The increase in the cost of living is increasing the pressure on Spanish households, especially those with fewer resources, and the unions have called on the government to take action on the matter immediately. CCOO and UGT call for an immediate revision of the minimum interprofessional wage (SMI), currently set at €1,221 per month for fourteen payments, in order to cope with the price spike and "blind" the purchasing power of its recipients.
The meeting of the Socio-Economic Council on increasing the minimum wage for the next year was held today, and the positions remained the same as at the previous meeting.
