- At Jurney's Assisted Living Home in Statesville, Executive Director Chrissy Stein-Martin said eight residents are undergoing treatment. Residents have "not been stressed at all" about the experience, she noted.
- The CDC and The NCDHHS coordinated risk assessments and ensured adequate PEP supplies are available. If started promptly, PEP is 100% effective at preventing fatal rabies infection.
- North Carolina requires rabies vaccines for only cats, dogs, and ferrets, but not farm animals like goats. Stein-Martin decided Jurney's Assisted Living Home will no longer host farm animals, stating there is "no reason to put everyone at risk.

Four rabies-affected kids crisscrossed seven counties of North Carolina for a month. Health authorities now call on every visitor to consult, as a skunk had contaminated their pens at the end of July.
