A parliamentary committee convened today to discuss whether to meet with PKK leader Öcalan. The CHP's decision was to not go to İmralı. The CHP later explained the reasons for its İmralı decision.

The Democratic Party (DEM) slammed the CHP's decision not to go to İmralı and attend the closed-door session. Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit criticized the CHP's stance, saying, "History is written by the brave, and history will also write those who don't take responsibility. The process cannot move forward without listening to Öcalan."

As the Initiative Commission prepared for the İmralı vote at its 18th meeting, deep divisions within the ruling party surfaced. The CHP, stating, "There is no democratic progress whatsoever," decided not to participate in the process.
