Despite a recent legal setback, the United States is implementing new customs taxes, raising questions about their economic and commercial impact.
This surcharge, based on a 1974 law, runs until 24 July and replaces the previous rates declared illegal by the Supreme Court a few days ago. The government will have to obtain a vote from Congress if it wants to maintain these customs duties over the duration.
