Hyundai's New Electric Van Is Big Enough for Nine, but This EV May End up Being the Bigger Hit
The Staria Electric offers an 84-kWh battery, 20-minute fast charging, and standard vehicle-to-load capability for family and shuttle use, Hyundai said.
- This year, Hyundai Motor Group unveiled the Staria Electric, its biggest battery-powered minivan with an 84-kilowatt-hour battery and a 248-mile WLTP range, launching in Korea and Europe.
- Hyundai adapted an 800-volt architecture, rating the Staria's battery at 800 volts for faster DC charging and borrowing a top E‑GMP feature as the only 800-volt front-wheel drive EV.
- With a heated front-mounted CCS2 port and an 11 kW AC onboard charger, Hyundai says a top-up takes roughly 20 minutes.
- Targeting families and shuttle operators, Hyundai offers seven-seater and nine-seater configurations with 4,409 pounds towing capacity, competing against Volkswagen ID. Buzz and Kia PV5.
- Amid slower-charging rivals, shorter charging stops should help the Staria compensate for a lower WLTP figure versus some ID variants when rivals sell in Europe and Korea later this year.
