Edmonton - German ice hockey professional Leon Draisaitl has extended his expiring contract with the Edmonton Oilers. His new contract makes the 28-year-old the highest-paid ice hockey player in the NHL.
28-year-old striker extended contract for 14 million dollars annually until 2033 – "A historic day for the Edmonton Oilers"
The new contract, which will enter into force from the 2025/26 season, will guarantee him a total income of 112 million dollars. The Oilers club website reported. Draisaitl surpasses American shooting guard Auston Matthews from Toronto, whose four-year contract for the Maple Leafs' salary cap carries a burden of $13.25 million (301 million crowns).
