Court Sentences Tahir Hussain to 2 Years in Jail for Abetting 2020 Delhi Riots

The court said Hussain’s role in facilitating the violence and his position as an elected representative were key aggravating factors.

Tahir Hussain, previously an AAP councillor, has been sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment for his role in inciting riots. The court indicated he misused his political influence to enable violence rather than upholding order. On February 24, 2020, he permitted rioters to utilize his residence for attacking citizens and properties. His defense of being powerless was dismissed due to insufficient proof.
