The Government of Colombia assured that the dialogues with the Gulf Clan continue despite the brake announced by that criminal organization.
The provisional suspension decision is based, according to the Colombian Gaitanist Army (EGC), on the possible extradition of members of the group to the United States.
The Government assured that the peace negotiating table with the Gulf Clan is in “advanced state”, despite a provisional suspension announced by that organization. The Peace Commissioner said in a statement that the process, opened in September in Qatar with the accompaniment of that country, Spain, Norway and Switzerland, “is of absolute relevance in the purpose of finding dialogue with the violence and is currently in an advanced state.”
The Clan del Golfo, the main paramilitary force and major actor of drug trafficking in Colombia, suspended the peace negotiations with the government, after President Gustavo Petro promised Washington to hand over his leader. The agreements between Colombia and the United States have already provoked bombings against the ELN and ultimatums launched at the dissidents of the Farc.
