Google Is Upgrading Almost Every Nest Security Device - and There's a New Home Speaker, Too
The $99.99 speaker features Gemini AI, balanced 360-degree sound, multi-room audio, and a fabric design that cuts waste through 3D knitting, Google said.
On Wednesday, Google previewed the AI-powered Google Home Speaker and said it will launch in spring 2026 as the first smart speaker built for Gemini AI.
Google says the timing is intentional to roll out Gemini for Home across existing speakers and smart displays first, letting customers try Early Access and report bugs, Anish Kattukaran explained.
Featuring a 3D knit shell and domed top, the Google Home Speaker uses a 3D knitting process to reduce fabric waste, includes a light ring and physical mute switch, and has a processor for Gemini.
Google plans wide launch coverage across 19 markets, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Japan, allowing users to pair two Google Home Speakers with a Google TV Streamer for surround sound.
Reports place the Google Home Speaker near a $99 price point, with Google Home Premium replacing Nest Aware and many Gemini-powered features requiring that subscription.
