Church donation box goes digital in Greece
- The Cathedral Basilica of St Dionysius the Areopagite in Greece introduced the first Point of Sale device in a Greek church, as commonly used in other regions, including Africa.
- Cameras from national broadcasters were present on Sunday to capture the installation of the POS device, although it was not functioning at that time.
- The POS unit is expected to accept donations from one cent to a maximum of 1,000 euros within a week.
- The church relies on donations for expenses, including salaries and charity work, as these are not funded by the Greek state or the Vatican.
