One of the oldest hosiery factories in Romania, the one in Sebeş, is closing its doors for good in the middle of this month. After almost a century of tradition and work, hopes of a rescue have been dashed, and the sale of the factory has failed to keep it afloat. Now, almost a hundred employees are forced to look for work, while an important page in the local economy is closing forever.

The sock factory in Sebeş, the oldest in Alba County, founded almost a century ago by a German, will cease operations, with its 99 employees to be laid off from March 17.
