Brussels rejects ‘blaming’ renewables for blackout

The European Energy Commissioner has rejected attributing last week's power outage in the Iberian Peninsula to excess renewable energy production, praising the response of Portuguese and Spanish authorities to the "worst blackout in decades".

In a debate on the 28th April incident that left the Iberian Peninsula without electricity, MEPs attacked the apostasy in the renewables as “climate fanatism” and “ecologic noise”.

It's been a week since the blackout in Spain. What caused it is still unclear, even as experts debate whether renewable energy sources are behind the outage. The Spanish prime minister defended green electricity in front of MPs today.
