Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur announced his resignation in early September 2026 following a huge public procurement scandal. The case involves a contract of tens of millions of euros, financed from European funds, for the purchase of artillery shells for Ukraine, a transaction that proved to be a total failure. The firm from which Estonians bought the ammunition is also present in Romania through two entities.
