Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ with Extended Cut & ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ Get Criterion Release in October
The deluxe set includes a 158-minute director’s cut, a making-of documentary and interviews as Criterion expands its fall physical release slate.
- On Oct. 27, the Criterion Collection will release Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein with preorders for 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD formats available at a 20% discount on the Criterion website.
- Although Netflix produced the film, the streamer partnered with the Criterion Collection, following similar physical editions for Netflix-produced titles including The Irishman, Roma, Okja, The Power of the Dog, and Pinocchio.
- Featuring eight additional minutes of footage, the release includes the 158-minute Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut; the film holds an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and stars Jacob Elordi, whom critics called "the best thing about the movie."
- Arriving in time for Halloween, the release features exclusive cover art by Denver Balbaboco and joins other October releases from the Criterion Collection, including The Silence of the Lambs and The Shout.
- Guillermo del Toro, a vocal advocate for physical media, remains committed to providing comprehensive physical editions for his acclaimed work through partnerships with the Criterion Collection.
