A Peruvian Pope of Heart

A biography published on Thursday, May 8 by the Diocese of Chiclayo describes the new Pope.

Pope Leo XIV recalled this Thursday his visit to Peru in his first statements after his election, in which he issued a greeting in Spanish to his “Dear Diocese of Chiclayo”.

N XIV greets Chiclayo in his first speech as Pope and placed the focus on the Peruvian city where he lived 14 os in the world focus.

Miguel Jiménez, parish priest of the Church of the Assumption of Carcabuey, maintained a close relationship with the new Pope, Robert Prevost, during the four months they worked together: first in the diocese of Callao (Peru) and then in Chiclayo. Jiménez defines Leon XIV as “a man of action” who “does not set a profile in the face of the problems of the world”, and highlights his strong commitment to the most disadvantaged.
