Following a decision of the Constitutional Court, the transitional period introduced last year, concerning the Brussels low emissions zone, will end on 1 January 2026. Tens of thousands of motorists will then be subject to stricter conditions of access and, ultimately, fines.

Three months after its suspension, the Constitutional Court overturned on Thursday the Brussels Ordinance, which postponed the application of the low-emission zone (LEZ) from 1 January 2025 to 1 January 2027 for Euro 5 diesel cars and Euro 2 petrol cars.
