Matt Reeves’ ‘Batman’ Sequel Hits a Sudden Roadblock
Production is temporarily paused as Matt Reeves steps away for a family matter, and Warner Bros. says it is too early to know if the release will change.
On Monday, Warner Bros. announced production on The Batman Part II is temporarily paused while director Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter, halting filming in London.
The sequel, currently scheduled for February 18, 2028, has faced multiple delays since the original 2022 film, including postponements following the 2023 writers and actors strikes.
Pattinson returns as the Caped Crusader alongside Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Scarlett Johansson, and Sebastian Stan, while the original 2022 film earned more than $772 million globally.
Sources indicate it is too early to determine if this hiatus will impact the February 18, 2028 release date, though DC Studios expressed support for Reeves and the journey ahead.
The pause coincides with Skydance completing its takeover of Warner Bros. on Tuesday, as DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran remain while film bosses Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy depart.
