On February 4th, a massive landslide on the AVE high-speed rail line near the town of Álora in Málaga province caused the suspension of train service between Málaga and Madrid. The repairs have been a complex undertaking, forcing the Ministry of Transport, headed by Óscar Puente, to postpone the announced deadlines twice.
