Why Are Man Utd Kicking Off at 12.30pm on a Sunday?
Manchester United has identified Michael Carrick as the primary candidate for the permanent manager role at Old Trafford. Carrick stabilized the club after replacing Ruben Amorim, securing Champions League qualification for next season.
Replacing Ruben Amorim, Carrick guided United to a surge in form and morale while keeping the club on the brink of a third-place Premier League finish with two games remaining. His turnaround performance prompted the manager search.
When asked about his future, Carrick said, "There's two games to go, apart from that there's not much else to say, probably what you expect." He insists his situation remains unchanged as talks continue.
Ahead of Sunday's match against Nottingham Forest, Carrick confirmed a decision on his future will be made soon. An announcement could arrive before the final game against Brighton next Sunday.
Despite ongoing contract discussions, Carrick maintains his current focus is solely on finishing the campaign, deferring thoughts on the 2026/27 season until the final matches conclude. His priority remains the present campaign.
