A city in Romania will hold in 2034 the title of European Capital of Culture, according to the European Commission. The first candidates would be submitted in the autumn of 2028, and the finalist cities will be known in 2029. The new framework of competition simplifies the application procedure and puts a greater emphasis on projects with long-term effects, as well as on the involvement of young people and civil society.
