The 8th China International Tea Expo Kicks off in Hangzhou
The expo features a 77,000-square-meter display, a tea-picking robot and six industry reports as organizers target younger consumers.
On May 21st, the 8th China International Tea Expo officially opened in Hangzhou, launching dual venues through an innovative 'One Exhibition, Two Venues' linkage model under the theme 'Tea Connects the World, Sharing for Development.'
Longwu Tea Town, a major West Lake Longjing tea producer with ten-thousand-mu plantations, provided the foundation for expansion; 2025 spring tea output in the Zhuantang-Longwu area reached 216.1 tons, valued at RMB 236 million.
The expo spanned 77,000 square meters with over 1,500 branded tea enterprises from 13 countries displaying more than 100,000 tea products, while tea-picking robots from the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences brought 'new tea farmers' to the mountains.
Visitors flocked to the Longwu Venue on opening day, immersing themselves in experiences from cutting-edge tea technologies to a digitally recreated 'palace tea banquet' inspired by Song Dynasty tea ceremonies.
Beyond the five-day exhibition, the Longwu Venue establishes a permanent platform for world-class tea events, while Longwu evolves from 'selling tea leaves' to 'selling a lifestyle' through emerging business forms like tea-mountain camping and tea-based food ventures.
