On 17 September, the Greek government approved the purchase of a new defense and intervention frigate built by Naval Group, which is part of a strategic partnership with Athens.
Greece's Security Council (KYSEA) decided on Wednesday to purchase a fourth Belharra frigate from France, as part of the army's modernization program and to maintain its strategic balance against its historical rival, Turkey, Reuters and AFP report, according to Agerpres.
Greece is continuing to overhaul its army with a new command from Naval Group. A fourth Belharra frigate will complete an arsenal already reinforced by Rafale and Exocet missiles.
