The 48 Welsh beaches with Blue Flags or other clean seaside awards for 2026
Forty-eight beaches won Blue Flag, Seaside or Green Coast awards, including 20 Blue Flags, for meeting strict water-quality and management standards.
Environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy announced 48 recipients for the 2026 Wales Coast Awards, down from 49 last year.
Tenby's North Beach did not retain its Blue Flag status after water quality classification dropped from 'excellent' to 'good' based on samples collected last July and August.
Welsh Water is investing more than £2.3 million a day to improve services, acknowledging that bacteria can originate from rural land use, urban runoff, and private septic systems.
While North Beach lost its status, Tenby South and Tenby's Castle Beach retained their Blue Flag awards, with the latter holding the designation for 25 years.
Chief Executive Owen Derbyshire of Keep Wales Tidy called the news 'incredibly disappointing' and committed the organization to supporting North Beach in restoring its water quality and Blue Flag standing.
Keep Wales Tidy has announced that 15 beaches across Wales have received the Seaside Award. His essays were nominated for the 2026 Coastal Wales Awards, which are held at the leading environmental charity organization in Wales.
